LAKE MARY, Fla., May 6, 2002 -- HTE Inc., a provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for public sector organizations and utilities worldwide, said it has been selected by the Board of Water Works of Pueblo, Colo., to provide a complete financial and utilities solution as a replacement for the agency's current technology.
The new HTE software will replace the Water Works' legacy system, first developed in the 1970s.
"This transition to HTE software will allow us to move our operations to the next level," said Water Works Information Technology Manager Kevin Naumann. "We found that without significantly increasing our IT staff, we couldn't continue to re-engineer and upgrade our own system and still keep up with the demands of our daily operations. We tried, but we realized we were not getting ahead."
The Board of Water Works purchased HTE's GMBA® fund accounting system, Purchasing/Inventory, Continuing Property Records, Work Orders/Facility Management, Land/Parcel Management and Customer Information System for utilities.
All of the applications feature the new HTE NaviLine™ Windows-based browser interface.
"We're looking forward to a significant increase in productivity with HTE. Instead of jumping back and forth to several screens, we'll be able to just point and click to accomplish our work. Our employees are especially excited about the look and feel of the browser interface," Naumann said.
The Water Works specifically wanted an IBM iSeries solution, Naumann said, and HTE was the preferred vendor because its utility applications integrate fully with the financial package.
"There are not many companies that offer that level of integration, and of those that do, we felt HTE clearly had the superior product," he said. "Their people were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They really had their ducks in a row."
The Pueblo Water Works serves the city's population of 100,000 and has some 37,000 metered accounts.
"We're pleased to be selected by the Board of Water Works of Pueblo as their technology partner for the future," said Joe Loughry, HTE president and chief executive officer. "This organization is widely known and respected for innovative management of Pueblo's water resources and their clearly defined goals and high standards were evident throughout the competitive process. Our team is eager to work closely with them to ensure they are able to operate more efficiently and continue to provide outstanding customer service."
