Feb. 18, 2002 -- The Collier County Board of County Commissioners has awarded a contract to supply scale inhibitor to the North Regional Water Treatment Facility to American Water Chemicals Inc. (AWC).
AWC will supply 70,000 pounds per year of its A-111UL antiscalant to Collier County at a bulk delivered price of 0.539 cents per pound. The North Regional plant produces 12 mgd of drinking water using reverse osmosis.
The facility began production in 1993 and uses source water from the Upper Tamiami and the Lower Hawthorn Aquifers. AWC A-111UL will be added to the plant's feed water at a rate of approximately 3.0 mg/L to control calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and barium sulfate scaling and minimize fouling.
AWC is full service water treatment company with a heavy concentration in reverse osmosis and other membrane treatment processes. It manufactures a range of scale inhibitors and membrane cleaners along with providing associated technical services. AWC is a subsidiary of American Engineering Services (AES) an international designer and builder of water and wastewater treatment systems.
