DENVER, Colo., Feb. 13, 2002 -- Orica Watercare has signed an agreement with WesTech Engineering, Inc. for WesTech to manufacture and market water treatment systems using the Australian-developed Magnetic Ion Exchange (MIEX) resin, it was announced here today by Matthew D. Rowland, president of Orica Watercare Inc.
WesTech Engineering, Inc. is an employee-owned leader in the supply and development of high quality process equipment for water and wastewater treatment and liquid-solid separation for over a quarter century, with an extensive North American network of representatives.
"The significant interest shown in the MIEX technology in the past twelve months from utilities, consultants and regulatory agencies has encouraged us to partner with such a well-respected firm like WesTech in order to accelerate our launch into the United States," Rowland added.
Jim Larsen, president of WesTech, added, "We're excited to take on the MIEX technology, which in many on-site tests has demonstrated significant potential for the American market, especially in complying with the new EPA Stage 1 regulations for drinking water."
MIEX is an innovative ion exchange resin that cost-effectively removes dissolved organic carbon (DOC), a precursor to disinfection by-products (DBPs) in drinking water. What makes MIEX unique is a magnetic component that allows the resin to be used in a continuous ion exchange process, and be almost totally recovered.
