PITTSBURGH, June 15, 2016 -- Regional Utilities of Walton County, Florida has selected Evoqua, along with its sales partner AAG Electric Motors & Pumps, Inc., for a turnkey project to expand their biological wastewater treatment plant located in the coastal resort community of Point Washington.
The project will include the expansion of an existing Evoqua Omniflo® Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) from 2.0 million gallons per day (MGD) to 4.0 MGD. The project will allow the plant to meet future effluent limits for suspended solids, nitrogen, and phosphorus. The consulting engineering firm, Preble-Rish, under the supervision of Philip Jones, will provide the process design, flow analysis, and permitting.
Additional components in the Point Washington project will include two rotating drum screens, a grit removal system, and an influent bypass system. An existing traveling bridge filter will also be converted to a tertiary disc filtration system and a chlorine contact basin will be reconfigured to accommodate a high-level disinfection system. Evoqua’s DavcoSM field service team will work closely with a concrete tank supplier to provide the field-erected SBR treatment tanks. The Davco team will also provide the equipment installation, field service and commissioning for this plant expansion.
When the Point Washington project is complete in the summer of 2016, Regional Utilities will have a state-of-the-art treatment system with the performance and flexibility needed to keep pace with the service area’s aggressive growth as a resort destination. Most important, Evoqua’s Omniflo SBR using Jet Tech technology will provide the nutrient removal needed to keep the waters sparkling and beaches pristine for generations to come. “Regional Utilities has a responsibility to provide a safe, healthy, and enjoyable environment for our customers,” says Ryan Douglass, Engineering Manager with Regional Utilities. “As we’ve faced new challenges driven by growth and development, Evoqua has helped us live up to that responsibility.”
