PDL Group, the international engineering design and analysis consultancy, is increasing its activities in the global water industry to support the development and adoption of innovative and resource-maximising technologies.
As part of this sector-focus, its Asia Pacific-based operation PDL Solutions (Asia) Pte Ltd will, in particular, increase its presence in the Singapore market, which is actively embracing cutting edge water industry developments.
PDL will be present at Singapore International Water Week 2016 between 10th and 14th July to demonstrate its transferable and complementary engineering design and analysis capabilities that have been well-proven in the international oil and gas industry.
Experts in the use of finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics and multi-body dynamics toolsets, PDL engineers work with their clients to determine the remaining life of an aging asset or infrastructure and facilitate the comparative assessment of the life extension options.
They also understand the route-cause failure modes at a system or a component level and develop, optimise and qualify new technologies, products and systems to the appropriate design codes and water quality standards.
The group’s European operation, PDL Solutions (Europe) Ltd, is already active in the UK sector and is a member of the water industry trade association British Water. PDL Solutions (Asia) Pte Ltd will work in partnership with its counterparts in Europe to provide a comprehensive range of specialist consultancy services to the Singapore water industry.
Michael Shanley, Vice President Asia, PDL Group, said: “The water industry faces a number of significant challenges that requires the support of an innovative engineering-led supply chain. From global scarcity and increased consumption to ageing infrastructure and increasing pumping costs, there is a serious need for the industry to embrace new and more efficient ways of working utilising specialist technologies.
“Over the course of the last 16 years, we have developed an enviable track record in the design optimisation and qualification of safety critical pipelines, valves, pumps and filters within the global energy sector. These application areas form an integral part of any water and wastewater system and we look forward to sharing this analysis expertise with our water clients in Asia”.
He added: “Singapore is a world leader in water management and is very open to use of cutting edge technologies that have been developed by collaborative organisations. Singapore International Water Week attracts the world’s leading experts and companies and we are keen to establish mutually beneficial and long term relationships within the Singapore water sector.”
