NEW YORK -- A drink manufacturer now is the only company that can call its bottled water "The world's best drinking water" after getting its trademark from the US patent and trademark office.
Isbre Holding Corp. received approval July 24 for its trademark application for "The world's best drinking water'' for bottled spring water, in class 32, registration no. 2,358,787. Isbre believes the title is deserved - its water comes from one of Norway's glaciers, said Bjorn Seljevold, a spokesman for the company.
"The water is extremely low in dissolved solids and has a crisp, clean taste unlike any water I have tasted," Seljevold said.
The company intends to build an aggressive marketing campaign using the new trademark as a slogan.
Isbre is a producer, distributor and marketer of bulk water, spring water and juice products. It plans to have a bottling facility set up in Philadelphia by summer 2001 where water will be shipped in tanker ships directly from its springs in Norway to Philadelphia and bottled and distributed throughout the northeastern United States.
