Alexandria, Va., March 28, 2003 -- The WERF Endowment for Innovation in Applied Water Quality Research is accepting applications for the Paul L. Busch Award, which carries with it a $100,000 research grant.
Applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2003.
Each year, the WERF Endowment presents the Paul L. Busch Award to recognize an outstanding and innovative individual or team who contributes significantly to research in water quality and the practical application of research in the water environment. The annual grant seeks to support and promote work that will blaze new trails and bring new benefits to the water quality community (utilities, industries, environmental firms, and the water-using public they serve).
The WERF Endowment was created to encourage the development of scientific research and technological innovation that improve the water environment in a sustainable manner. It is towards this end that the Endowment Awards Committee evaluates nominations and applications for this award, striving to support the most innovative and creative advances in water quality research.
The WERF Endowment honors Paul L. Busch, Ph.D., with this award because he so completely embodied the spirit of creativity, visionary thinking, and practical application of scientific research - a spirit that is essential to passing on a clean-water environment to future generations.
