BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 20, 2003 -- Vulcan Materials Co. has signed an agreement to sell its Performance Chemicals municipal waste water odor and corrosion control business to ALTIVIA Corp., a producer of chemicals, and supplier of equipment and services to the water treatment industry.
The transaction is expected to close by March 31, 2003. As part of the transaction, ALTIVIA will receive marketing and development rights to certain key technologies and products, and will assume Vulcan's national sales and marketing organization servicing the municipal waste water treatment markets. ALTIVIA previously acquired Vulcan's municipal drinking water treatment business in December 2002.
ALTIVIA will acquire Vulcan's municipal waste water odor and corrosion control business in the United States, Canada and Mexico. ALTIVIA Corporation, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a key manufacturer of both specialty and commodity water treatment chemicals, and an important provider of municipal and industrial water treatment services. It has a range of chemical manufacturing, bulk terminal, sales and service facilities located strategically across the southern USA and Mexico.
