Aug. 13, 2003 -- A new research project aims to study possible implementations of water privatization in Europe.

EUROMARKET is a research project on 'Water liberalisation scenarios: An empirical analysis of the evolution of the European water supply and sanitation sectors.'

The project is funded by the European Union under the "Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development" program (http://www.cordis.lu/eesd) of the 5th RTD Framework Programme, and by the Swiss Federal Office for Education and Science (http://www.bbw.admin.ch/).

The scientific coordination of the project is ensured by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) (http://www.epfl.ch/) under the direction of Prof. Matthias Finger within the Water Institutions and Management Competence Centre (http://mir.epfl.ch/water) of MIR.

The administrative and financial coordination of the project is done by UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education (http://www.ihe.nl/).
