New Jersey-American Water Co. welcomes new president

New Jersey-American Water Co. welcomes Andrew M. Chapman as its new President. Effective March 1, Chapman will take over the helm after the retirement of Robert J. Gallo.

HADDON HEIGHTS, N.J., Jan. 22, 2003 -- New Jersey-American Water Company welcomes Andrew M. Chapman as its new President. Effective March 1, Chapman will take over the helm after the retirement of Robert J. Gallo.

Currently, Andrew Chapman is the President of Elizabethtown Water and E'town Corporation. With the completion of the acquisition of New Jersey- American's parent company American Water, both Elizabethtown and New Jersey- American are now owned by Thames Water, the water division of RWE.

Chapman will serve as president for both companies as they begin the merger process. The merger of New Jersey-American and Elizabethtown is expected to be complete some time in 2004.

"This is an exciting time for both New Jersey-American and E'town. Our goal is to make the new Company better than the two that exist now and to continue to strive for superior customer service and water quality," said Chapman. "Through combined experience and know-how, the new Company that develops will bring over 250 years of expertise in the water business."

Chapman has served in a variety of positions since joining Elizabethtown in 1989 including Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. He has been president since 1996. A graduate of the University of California at Berkley and Yale School of Management, Chapman also serves as President of the National Association of Water Companies.
