Philadelphia Suburban Corp. Maine subsidiary gets PUC approval for 9.4 percent rate increase

Philadelphia Suburban Corp. has received approval to raise water rates by 9.4 percent in the system of its subsidiary, Consumers Maine Water Co.

SKOWHEGAN, Maine, Jan. 17, 2003 -- Philadelphia Suburban Corp. announced Friday that the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) has approved its Consumers Maine Water Company subsidiary's request to increase rates by 9.4 percent ($84,000) in its Skowhegan Division effective January 13, 2003.

Even with the rate increase, the Skowhegan Division customers will still be able to have a day's worth of water for less than a can of soda.

CMWC's Skowhegan water system serves 2,400 customers in the Town of Skowhegan and is one of 15 Maine water systems owned or operated by Consumers Maine Water Company.
