WILKES-BARRE, PA, April 8, 2013 -- Pennsylvania American Water announced the start of construction on a new 680,000-gallon water storage tank in Susquehanna Depot. During construction, the company does not expect any service interruptions to local customers while crews work on the approximately $2.5 million project.
Starting the week of April 8, crews will construct the concrete storage tank off Redden Drive in the borough. The new tank will provide necessary storage for fire protection and improved water pressure for customers.
Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The company expects the new tank to be erected and in service by the end of the year.
The Susquehanna Depot tank is one of nine new water storage tanks that the company is constructing this year across Pennsylvania, along with plans to rehabilitate 14 existing tanks, which represents a total investment of approximately $16.5 million.
