Beijing receives $2.9M drainage pumping project

Xylem Inc. has been awarded a $2.9 million contract from the Beijing Drainage Group to install drainage pumps in 19 Beijing pumping stations.

WHITE PLAINS, NY, May 10, 2013 -- Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world's most challenging water issues, announced today that it has been awarded a $2.9 million contract from the Beijing Drainage Group (BDG) to install Xylem's Flygt® drainage pumps in 19 pumping stations in downtown Beijing. The new Flygt submersible centrifugal sewage pumps will improve the stations' water storage capability and prevent overflow by providing more efficient drainage and flood control.

"Our Flygt pumps reduce the costs associated with pump station design, excavation, civil work, installation and commissioning, while maintaining superior performance even under heavy flooding conditions."

Beijing Drainage Group Co. Ltd is a wholly state-owned wastewater utility established with the approval of the Beijing Municipal Government.
