The Portland Water District in Portland, Maine has selected Hansen's Consumption Billing and eCitizen Relationship Management (eCRM) solution to manage the utility billing and call center activities of the district.

Sacramento, Calif., March 28, 2001 — Hansen Information Technologies announced today that the Portland Water District (PWD) in Portland, Maine has selected Hansen's Consumption Billing and eCitizen Relationship Management (eCRM) solution to manage the utility billing and call center activities of the District.

PWD will be adding the new software products to the existing Hansen installation that is currently in use to support the Infrastructure management and Work Order operations at the District. "Having a single system that will store all of our customer, billing, and work order data will allow us to better serve the customers of Portland Water District," said Peter Cutrone, PWD's Director of Information Services.

"Hansen's enterprise solution ensures that all the pertinent data is available to our customer service representatives as well as our crews in the field. It is the kind of true integration that eliminates redundant processes and data handling."

The new consumption billing system replaces a legacy system that has been in use for over 10 years. The new system will manage the monthly water and sewer billing, meter reading, and payment processing for over 44,000 active accounts at PWD. In addition, PWD will be able to schedule customer appointments and manage the daily activities of the District's Water Utility Specialists who assist with maintaining the high level of customer service provided by PWD. An optional Internet component using Hansen's DynamicPORTAL technology will also allow PWD customers to inquire about their account, request and schedule services, and receive and pay their bills online in a 24 X 7 environment.

The system will be installed on the existing Oracle database running on a Windows NT platform. The entire project will consist of four separate phases and is expected to take approximately nine months to complete. The first phase will involve a formal fit analysis that will include a review of PWD's current business practices, the identification of necessary interfaces and data conversion requirements, and the formulation of a detailed project plan that will guide the complete implementation process.

After a successful completion of the first phase, interface development, data conversion, system installation and training will begin.
