PALM DESERT, Calif. August 13, 2001 — USFilter reaffirmed today its ongoing business relationship with Envirogen, Inc. of Lawrenceville, N.J.

USFilter and Envirogen continue to work closely together and are jointly the way in cost effectively treating groundwater contaminated with ammonium perchlorate or MTBE, two groundwater pollutants of increasing health concern to the public. Reports in a recent press release issued by USFilter's Davis Products mistakenly implied USFilter had severed its relationship with Envirogen in its entirety.

Under a previous contract with Envirogen, which concluded as of June 30, 2001, USFilter's Davis Products of Sarasota, Fla., had incorporated Envirogen's biofiltration technology in its Modular Biofilter System™. The system, which provides cost-effective elimination of odors and VOCs at wastewater treatment plants and other sites, continues to be available from Envirogen and its manufacturers' representatives. USFilter does not plan to continue to offer this system, but provides a wide range of odor control systems for its customers.

USFilter is a Vivendi Water company, the global provider of commercial, industrial, municipal and residential water and wastewater treatment systems, products and services, with operations in more than 100 countries.
