BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 29, 2000—Insightek, Inc., an Idaho-based technology company specializing in remote resource monitoring systems and services, today announced that it has appointed former J.R. Simplot Company chief strategy officer Ray Sasso to head a business development initiative aimed at establishing the company's future marketing and product development course.
Sasso, who retired earlier this year as senior vice president of strategy and planning for Simplot, will work with Insightek's current management team to identify future application opportunities for Insightek's core technology and services, help define the company's technology and new product roadmap, and recruit the next-generation management group.
"Ray brings a wealth of experience in setting the strategic direction for a multi-billion dollar corporation, including corporate reorganization and merger and acquisition activities," said Kevin Rowland, vice president of sales and marketing for Insightek.
"At the same time, he has launched several technology start-ups. Ray's contributions come at a very pivotal time for Insightek, and will help us make the transition from a technology innovator to a recognized industry player."
During his two decade career at J.R. Simplot Company, Sasso worked closely with the company's board of directors to develop corporate and business unit strategy, led the company's entry into a new market that generated $225 million in revenue in just three years, served as chief information officer, and spent ten years as president of Simplot Technology Corporation.
"Insightek's core technology enables the linkage of machinery and processes to the Internet with an unprecedented degree of software intelligence," said Sasso. In the past month, Insightek has taken major steps in the commercialization of its technology. The company recently announced that it reached an agreement with Idaho's leading civil engineering firm and the City of Pocatello to monitor the operational parameters for the city's 22 wastewater lift stations.
Insightek has also formed relationships with United Pipe & Supply, a Northwest wholesale reseller, and with AMES, Inc., a manufacturing representative based in Maryland. Both companies will distribute Insightek's wastewater lift station monitoring systems.
