VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 17, 2001 — Service Systems International Ltd. announced the delivery of 4 complete Single Lamp Reactor (SLR) Ultra Guard® UV systems.
The Systems are destined for various Municipal Wastewater Disinfection Plants located in the United States, Canada and Chile and are valued, in aggregate, at over $600,000.
On Nov. 26, 2001, Service Systems announced the delivery of an UV system to the Town of Walker, La. We are pleased to report the completion of that installation and can also report that the system is now disinfecting the wastewater discharged from the Town's Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The second Ultra Guard® UV system delivered into the United States went to the Spring Branch WWTP for the Sussex Service Authority in Virginia. Installation quickly followed the delivery and the UV system is now disinfecting the Authority's wastewater. This facility is designed to treat up to 5.0 million gallons per day of sewage wastewater collected from a number of combined plants.
The Ultra Guard® UV systems shipped to Canadian locations included one system purchased by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne for the St Regis, Quebec Sewage Treatment Plant. The second UV system was delivered to the City of Toronto's Western Beaches site, the world's largest submersible CSO pumping and treatment facility. The two projects will be installed and completed over the next few weeks.
The first Service Systems' UV system sold into South America was shipped to San Jose de Maipo, Chile, to be used by the country's largest utility owner, TEMAC. This sale was first announced in July 2001 and represented a milestone sale by our strategic alliance / marketing agent for that territory. The Ultra Guard® UV system is an alternative to the use of chlorine which has been the method of disinfection in the past. The system will be installed for use early in January 2002.
The SLR Systems shipped to the locations listed are "state of the art" ultraviolet disinfection systems. Each SLR has the capacity to disinfect up to 1.0 million gallons of wastewater per day. With electrical power consumption as much as 80% lower than major competitors' systems, capital cost payback can occur within five years. The low cost of ownership is a compelling reason for wastewater plant owners to consider the purchase of the Service Systems' Ultra Guard® UV system.
