Tampa, FL, Nov. 15, 2001 — American Water Chemicals, Inc. (AWC) has been awarded a three-year contract to supply scale inhibitor to the City of Cape Coral Municipal reverse osmosis (RO) plant.
Starting in October of 2001, AWC will supply 120,000 pounds per year of their A-111UL antiscalant to Cape Coral. The Cape Coral RO is the oldest municipal RO treatment facility in the United States and can produce 15 million gallons per day of drinking water, AWC said.
A-111UL will be added to the plant's raw water at a rate of approximately 2.5 mg/L to control calcium carbonate, barium sulfate and calcium fluoride scaling and minimize fouling. Their raw water has an average TDS of 1500 parts per million (ppm), 500 ppm total hardness, and 248 ppm of bicarbonate. Cape Coral uses Trisep and Hydranautics thin film composite membranes.
AWC is a full service water treatment company with a heavy concentration in reverse osmosis and other membrane treatment processes. AWC manufactures a 3wide range of scale inhibitors and membrane cleaners.
AWV is a subsidiary of American Engineering Services (AES) an international designer and builder of water and wastewater treatment systems. AES and AWC have been providing water treatment services for over 15 years and have offices in the U.S., the Caribbean, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
