Sacramento, Calif., October 30, 2001 — Hansen Information Technologies announced today that Metrowater Ltd. in Auckland, New Zealand is Hansen's first international customer to select the company's utility billing solution.
The Hansen solution includes software licensing, project management, data conversion, interface development and training and will be used to manage the billing and collection activities of the authority/utility. Metrowater's Revenue Manager Janice Miller said, "Hansen demonstrated a good fit with the functionality we require. Although its billing system is young, the company shows a marked willingness to develop new solutions in response to customers' needs and has a good international performance record in other areas, such as asset management."
With more than 120,000 customers and more than 2,300 miles of water and wastewater pipes, Metrowater is the water and wastewater utility company serving New Zealand's largest city. This solution is a key component of Metrowater's plans for continual improvement to its Information Technology and customer service systems. Key to these plans is the ability to provide industry-standard solutions with guaranteed scalability.
Hansen International Australasia General Manager, Mark Watts, said the Metrowater contract was a significant step in Hansen's move into the Australasian market, as an organisation in its own right. "After operating under a reseller arrangement in the Australian and New Zealand market for more than six years, Hansen's decision to operate in this region in its own right has been vindicated by this contract," Watts said. "Hansen recognizes the potential of this market and has aggressively pursued those opportunities. Metrowater's decision to embrace the Hansen billing product positions it as leader in utilities billing."
