The company plans to build an additional 11 wastewater treatment plants to help serve parts of the San Juan River catchment, as well as the Paco area.
Investment will be used to expand wastewater coverage using a combined sewerage system, to allow wastewater flow from existing drains to be collected for treatment before being discharged into major bodies of water.
Maynilad currently has three wastewater facilities with a combined capacity of 470,000 m3/day.
Ricky Vargas, CEO and president of Maynilad Water Services, said the additional sewerage facilities are part of a strategic plan to provide full wastewater service coverage in the West Zone. The West zone concessionaire has earmarked P78.8 billion for its "Sewerage & Sanitation" program from 2008 to 2037.
