BIRMINGHAM, UK, Jan. 25, 2008 -- Two ClorTec® on-site sodium hypochlorite generating systems from Severn Trent Services have been selected by Response Engineering Ltd. for installation at Dublin Corporation's Saggart Wastewater Treatment Works located on the outskirts of Dublin, Ireland. Response, one of the leading Irish water and wastewater treatment companies, selected two ClorTec CT-300s, each of which is capable of generating 135 kilograms (300 pounds) per day of chlorine equivalent.

Severn Trent Services pioneered the application of on-site sodium hypochlorite generation in 1988, and since that time have installed more than 3,000 systems worldwide. On-site generation is a cost effective, reliable and economical disinfection method. The ClorTec systems range from 2.7 to 1,360+ kg/day or 6 to 3,000+ lb/day, generating a 0.8 percent sodium hypochlorite solution by combining three common consumables -- salt, water and electricity -- to produce a chlorine equivalent. Since the ClorTec units produce sodium hypochlorite on demand, the technology alleviates the problem of chlorate by-product generation that typically results from the storage of bulk sodium hypochlorite. The system also eliminates the potential risk of transporting chlorine gas as well as storing it at the plant site.

Response Engineering is a member of the Response Group of companies, which is primarily involved in the provision of water and environmental services in Ireland for both public and private sector clients.

Severn Trent Services, with global headquarters in Fort Washington, Pa., USA, are a leading supplier of water and wastewater solutions.
