June 30, 2008 -- AUMA has provided Profibus enabled actuators for a range of applications at United Utilities' Stockport wastewater treatment works in the UK. The works has undergone a multi-million pound upgrade and, as part of enhancements to the scheme, AUMA was selected to supply quarter-turn and multi-turn actuators with fieldbus capability.

Based in Cheadle Heath, the Stockport works serves a population of over 150,000 people and treats wastewater before returning it to the River Mersey. Improvements that benefit from valve control technology provided by AUMA actuators include new final settlement tanks and Sequencing Batch Reactors. Additionally, the actuators support technology that aids transportation of media across the site.

The supplier of modular electric actuators has a relationship with United Utilities, the largest UK operator of water and wastewater networks, which dates back to 2002. Other UU treatment works supported with AUMA actuation technology include Ingleton, Ridgegate, Barley and Wigan.
