VILLE ST-LAURENT, PQ, Canada, Oct. 15, 2008 -- John Meunier Inc., subsidiary of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, is pleased to announce that it has reached a new milestone by providing its 1250th piece of headwork equipment in North America, since 1977.
Headworks tradition within John Meunier Inc.
The headworks team started within John Meunier Inc. in 1977 with the introduction of the Cont-Flo® mechanical Bar Screen. This technology was shortly followed by the Mectan® Grit Removal system in 1980. The SAM® Grit Dewatering Screw and Rotopac® screenings washing compactor completed the headworks line-up in the mid 1980's. These technologies have proven a large success throughout North America. John Meunier Inc. has fabricated and sold more than 420 Cont-Flo® units, more than 340 Mectan® grit removal systems, 170 Rotopac® compactors and 240 SAM® dewatering screws across North America since the early 1980's.
The Escalator perforated Fine Screen
Always on the lookout for innovative screening technologies, John Meunier Inc. introduced to the North American market the perforated Fine Screen in 1998 with the introduction of the Escalator® Fine Screen. 'The Escalator® perforated Fine Screen is really a break-through technology in the headworks field. For the last 100 years, headworks bar screens used conventional spaced bar racks. The Escalator®, achieving a 50% increase in capture efficiency through the use of perforations, was a major advance in the market.' mentions Alan Steele, the John Meunier Inc. U.S. National Sales Manager. This revolutionary concept of having a perforated fine screen instead of a conventional bar screen has gained large acceptance and is now often considered the standard design for headworks screens.
The 1250th John Meunier Inc. piece of headwork equipment
A new milestone was reached with the Calera (Oklahoma) WWTP project. The Calera (OK) headwork project consisted in the supply of an Escalator® perforated Fine Screen and of a Rotopac® compactor through the Haynes Equipment office in Oklahoma City (OK).
"Our longevity in the headworks market is a demonstration of our commitment to building and supplying quality products. We are very proud of the installation base we have been able to build across the North American continent with more than 1250 installed headwork equipment. We look forward to serving the Canadian and American market with our headwork technologies for a long time," mentions Mike Bruneau, Sales Manager, Headworks Division of John Meunier Inc.

Also, throughout the history of the company, John Meunier Inc. has been manufacturing and assembling its state-of-the art headworks technology in Canada, in its 4500 m² production shop, in Ville St-Laurent.
