April 22, 2008 -- A grueling non-stop bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats is set to raise more that £4,000 for the charity WaterAid, thanks to courageous cyclists at Hydro International.

Four teams of six from Hydro International, including Chief Operating Officer Chris Williams and Stormwater Director Alex Stephenson who are each heading up their own teams, are calling for sponsorship support for the event on May 15th.

"Hydro has committed itself to raise £30,000 for WaterAid over a three year partnership, and Ride up Britain is a great step up the ladder to achieving this goal. We are looking for sponsorship from colleagues, friends -- in fact anyone who can help us towards our goal," says event organiser Marcus Mumford.

"Training has been ongoing for most of us since January. We have been riding to work, on our lunch breaks and because the ride is non-stop we have even been training in the middle of the night!"

The teams expect to take anything from three to five days to cycle the length of the country. The cyclists will take turns to ride in relays of one or two people.

The Ride up Britain event is registered with Everyday Cycling and is being supported by PerformanceCycles.co.uk, SIS, Marshall's Leasing and Xpertees.

WaterAid is an international organisation which, together with local partners, uses practical solutions to provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people. WaterAid operates in 17 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region.

Hydro International, which has offices in the UK, USA and Ireland, provides cost‑effective solutions for controlling the quantity and improving the quality of water with minimal maintenance.
