• Renewal of one of the nation's largest wastewater partnerships is a result of over 22 years of successful operations

HOUSTON, TX, Feb. 14, 2008--The Oklahoma City Water Utility Trust and Oklahoma City Council have unanimously approved a four-year contract extension with Veolia Water North America - West LLC (Veolia Water) to continue managing the city's four municipal treatment facilities that can process a combined 106 million gallons per day of residential and commercial wastewater. Along with wastewater treatment plant operations, Veolia Water will continue to manage the city's award-winning biosolids reuse program and the Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP), which monitors waste from more than 272 permitted companies.

Under the renewed contract, Veolia Water will provide engineering and operational support to Water Utility Trust staff for all treatment facility capital improvements, locate and permit all future required biosolids application sites, provide ODEQ-required chlorination and dechlorination services to the South Canadian treatment facility, and provide additional maintenance and repair staff to protect facility assets.

As a result, Oklahoma City constituents will continue to enjoy rate stability, proactive management of their wastewater assets and strong environmental stewardship of the community's water resources. Since 1985, the Veolia Water partnership has saved citizens approximately $150 million.

"For more than 22 years, Veolia Water has effectively operated and maintained the city's wastewater facilities, resulting in substantial savings for our residents," said Marsha Slaughter, Oklahoma City's Utilities Director. "Veolia Water's focus on permit compliance and record of community service is an example of the company's commitment to preserve our quality of life."

Chuck Voltz, president, Veolia Water North America - West LLC, said, "This extension validates our superior client service delivery model. Our staff in Oklahoma City has performed exceptionally well, and we will continue seeking new ways to better serve the community and protect the environment. We are certainly grateful for this vote of confidence, and we look forward to serving the residents of Oklahoma City for another four years."

Veolia Water North America - West LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Veolia Water North America, a leading provider of comprehensive water and wastewater services to municipal and industrial customers. Veolia Water is the water division of Veolia Environnement.
