MWH Global appoints commissioner to U.S. Section of PIANC

Nicholas Pansic, P.E., vice president of MWH Global's Energy and Industry operations, was appointed as the commissioner to the U.S. Section of PIANC.


BROOMFIELD, CO, Feb. 20, 2014 -- Nicholas Pansic, P.E., vice president of MWH Global's Energy and Industry operations, was appointed as the commissioner to the U.S. Section of PIANC, the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure. MWH, a provider of strategic consulting, environmental, engineering, and construction services, announced the new selection on Monday, Feb. 10.

During his four-year term as a member of the governing body of the U.S. Section, Pansic will help advance the U.S. maritime and inland waterway interests by promoting information exchange, encouraging public and private sector cooperation and stimulating the development of U.S. waterborne transport facilities. "It's an honor and a privilege to represent my peers at PIANC USA," said Pansic, "and I look forward to contributing to PIANC's mission to advance the sustainable development of waterborne transport infrastructure globally."

PIANC is a worldwide non-profit organization established to promote both inland and maritime navigation by fostering progress in the planning, design, construction, improvement, maintenance, and operation of waterways and ports and of coastal areas for beneficial use. Organized in 1902 within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), PIANC represents the U.S. membership of PIANC. All U.S. Section members, including government organizations, private sector companies and individuals work cooperatively with counterparts in 40 other nations to pursue a broad range of policy, engineering and environmental initiatives for the advancement of waterborne transportation.

In his role at MWH, Pansic brings more than 35 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of major wet infrastructure programs on five continents. His areas of expertise include water resources development, dam design and rehabilitation, inland and maritime navigation, and shoreline protection and enhancement. Pansic is a licensed professional engineer in Alaska, California, Illinois, Mississippi, and New York. He earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He lives in Chicago, Ill.
