TOPSFIELD, MA, May 29, 2012 -- The International Desalination Association (IDA) has issued a Call for Papers for its 2013 World Congress, "Desalination: A Promise for the Future," to be held October 20-25, 2013, at the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin, China.
Abstracts will be accepted from July 1 to October 1, 2012. Authors whose abstracts have been accepted will be notified in December, and the first draft manuscripts will be due February 1, 2013.
The theme of the 2013 IDA World Congress emphasizes the importance of desalination as a sustainable, reliable source to meet the world's growing water needs. Tracks in the Technical Program will cover:
• The governance and finance of desalination
• Sustainable desalination: environmental impacts and adapting to climate change
• Efficient and effective operations
• Innovative desalination technologies
• Desalination history, culture and industrial archaeology
The Technical Program Committee will be co-chaired by Mr. KHOO Teng Chye and Professor WANG Shi Chang. Mr. KHOO, a Director of IDA, is currently the Executive Director of the Centre for Liveable Cities, Ministry of National Development in Singapore. Prof. WANG, also an IDA Director, holds a distinguished position at the Chemical Engineering Research Center, School of Chemical Engineering and Technologies, and is Director of the Desalination and Membrane Technology Center at Tianjin University.
"The IDA World Congress is the preeminent platform for water and desalination experts from around the world to share their knowledge and exchange ideas. We invite authors to submit their abstracts for previously unpublished papers for consideration at this event, which takes place in one of the world's most important emerging desalination markets," said Patricia A. Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of contribution and impact, originality, accuracy, quality of presentation, and appropriate comparison to related works.
