KANSAS CITY, MO, Mar. 3, 2009 -- The City of Kansas City, Mo., Human Relations Division of the City Manager's Office will conduct a Government Stimulus Package Contracting and Certification Opportunity Forum from 6-7:30 p.m. on Mar. 5 at the Southeast Community Center, 4201 E. 63rd St. The event also includes a stimulus package networking reception, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
The event is free and is designed to provide information of immediate relevance regarding "shovel ready" projects, including Water Services and Public Works department projects, general contract conditions and Emergency Home Repair and Home Weatherization programs.
The City's legislative liaison will present information regarding the Minority/Women/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification process, Section 3 small business certification and the Missouri Department of Transportation's stimulus component, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification and contracting. Information also will cover solicitation, bidding and timelines.
All Kansas City area businesspeople interested in bidding on government contracts are encouraged to attend the event. The director of the Human Relations Division has mobilized City staff and outside experts from the Missouri Department of Transportation to inform the public about opportunities to participate in the stimulus initiative as part of an initiative to inform and identify contractors available to meet the City's demands. This multifaceted forum will present government construction, associative program requirements and procurement needs to businesses that operate in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The information pertains to both large and small companies, as well as individuals, seeking opportunities.
