DENVER, CO, Feb. 27, 2009 -- Stephen Gates, Senior Vice President at R. W. Beck, will present on current trends for utilizing alternative methods for water and wastewater project delivery at the Design-Build Institute of America's water/wastewater conference in early March.
Gates conducted a survey among water and wastewater utilities nationwide to assess awareness and implementation of design-build, design-build-operate and other forms of alternative project delivery, R. W. Beck's second such survey conducted on the subject in recent years. In 2006, R. W. Beck published its first set of results detailing the experience of project owners with methods other than the traditional design-bid-build option. The 2009 survey updates and expands the prior survey and identifies important market trends.
"Today's economic challenges only magnify the need for project owners to pursue financing and scheduling efficiencies and minimize risks associated with their capital projects," says Gates. "As the savings and benefits associated with alternative project delivery become better known, these methods may be considered by a growing number of owners across the industry."
Gates will present the results of the recent survey in his presentation, 'Alternative Capital Project Delivery for Water and Wastewater Utilities, How Owners Are Doing More With Less' on Thursday Mar. 5. DBIA's water/wastewater conference will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Denver, CO from Mar. 4-6.
