Aug. 27, 2009 -- Scottish Water has chosen the Thistle Water consortium as preferred bidder to deliver £520 million of work on its Capital Investment Programme for 2010 onwards.
Thistle Water -- made up of Jacobs UK, Laing O'Rourke Infrastructure and Veolia Water UK -- will form a commercial partnership with Scottish Water, currently known as Scottish Water Solutions 2.
After a cooling off period the water company will enter in to an 'Early Start' agreement with Thistle Water for professional services.
This will ensure the continued development of projects to ensure that Scottish Water is in a position to deliver investment from day one of the next regulatory period, at the start of April 2010.
Scottish Water's asset management director Geoff Aitkenhead said: "A considerable amount of work has been put in by both bid teams to get to this standard and stage of the process, and we have had two very strong bids for the second generation of Scottish Water Solutions.
"However, I believe that with this decision, we have established a good footing on which to go forward and continue negotiations to ensure we can deliver the efficient investment we need for our customers."
