DONCASTER, UK, Oct. 8, 2009 -- EARTH Tech Morrison (ETM) has completed the third stage of a £7.5m project to transform Doncaster's Waterfront.
Earth Tech Morrison is a joint venture between Yorkshire based AECOM Design Build and Morrison Construction. Morrison Construction forms part of the Galliford Try Group.
ETM was awarded the £7.5m contract by Yorkshire Water in 2008. The work included clearing the way for the redevelopment of the Homes Market canal basin and rationalizing the area's sewerage system. The existing Wheatley sewage pumping station was relocated to facilitate development of the area.
The Waterfront is located between Doncaster and South Yorkshire Navigation Canal.
Martin Priestley, project manager for AECOM Design Build, said:
"We've been working on this project for the past two years and are looking forward to completing the final stage of the project which will release a sizable area of land for development, to continue the transformation of the waterfront area.
"Using specialist experience, we ensured the project was fully odor controlled and the final carbon foot print minimized.
"Minimizing the carbon footprint of the design is part of AECOM Design Build's commitment to reducing green house gas emissions in all its activities."
Sections one, two and three of the projects were completed on time this month. Section four, which covers demolition and abandonment of the existing rising main is due to be completed later this month.
Odor was controlled using AECOM Design Build's proprietary design of odor control, ODR.Pak™.
