MINNEAPOLIS, MN, Apr. 28, 2009 -- Dow Water Solutions and Rohm and Haas Ion Exchange Resins have combined their respective businesses, forming Dow Water & Process Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow). This new business entity, based in Edina, Minn., comes as a result of Dow's acquisition of Rohm and Haas, which was completed Apr. 1.

"This is a great day for our customers, employees and partners," said Ian Barbour, general manager, Dow Water & Process Solutions. "Through a broad portfolio of water and process solutions, and expanded capabilities to meet the needs of our customers, Dow Water & Process Solutions has solidified its status as an industry leader in the marketplace. As we look to the future our business will provide customers, in both communities and industries alike, innovative technology offerings supported by a global network of experts."

Dow is already the world's largest manufacturer of reverse osmosis membranes. The addition of Rohm and Haas also solidifies Dow Water & Process Solutions as the industry leader in ion exchange resins. The larger scale of Dow Water & Process Solutions will improve the business' ability to invest in the innovative research and technology required to provide reliable, high-quality products and services to drive improved operational efficiencies in a number of major application areas, including industrial and municipal water, industrial processes, pharmaceuticals, power, residential water and waste and water reuse.

Added Barbour, "We have worked tirelessly over the past several months to position the combined company for a seamless integration so that Dow Water & Process Solutions can immediately and fully deliver on our customers' expectations."

By combining Rohm and Haas' significant process and application experience in ion exchange resins with Dow's best-in-class enabling component technologies and industry leadership position, this new integrated organization will offer customers a broader portfolio of solutions than either company could provide previously.

Dow Water & Process Solutions offers a broad portfolio of ion exchange resins, reverse osmosis membranes, ultrafiltration membranes and electrodeionization products, with strong positions in a number of major application areas, including industrial and municipal water, industrial processes, pharmaceuticals, power, residential water and waste and water reuse.
