DALLAS, TX, May 9, 2009 -- Bord na Móna Environmental Products U.S. Inc., the American market subsidiary of the $550-million Bord na Móna group based in Dublin, Ireland, today formally announced plans to introduce a complete range of rainwater harvesting products as well a new compact membrane for residential wastewater reuse/recycling applications. The plans were unveiled at the 2009 NAHB Green Building Conference by company President Shane Keaney.

According to Keaney, Bord na Mona will begin providing a complete range of residential & commercial rainwater harvesting products. The company will offer packaged solutions directly to green build developers, self-builders and to homeowners retrofitting rainwater recycling into their houses. It will also offer skid-mounted units and recycling components to builders & owners of commercial properties, such as schools, universities, office buildings and for industrial water reuse applications.

The company has also started offering a packaged subsurface drip irrigation solution which incorporates an upstream filter and the required controls. Drip irrigation conserves water by distributing treated wastewater rather than using potable water and can provide the fertilizer compounds necessary for plant growth.

Volume filterAlready a provider of a zero energy, high performance residential wastewater treatment solution with its Puraflo® Peat Fiber Biofilter system, and a range of decentralized wastewater treatment technologies, Bord na Mona today announced that it would soon introduce its PuraMc® Compact Membrane system, and is developing a greywater recycling system for the United States residential market. In doing so, the company will be able to offer a complete range of residential water reuse solutions and leverage its experience in offering water recycling products in European markets.

The PuraMc bioreactor has been designed to reduce the operation & maintenance requirements compared to other residential membrane systems while providing a water quality suitable for non-potable reuse applications such as toilet flushing, and irrigation. "The PuraMc Compact Membrane Bioreactor system achieves high quality effluent that meets water reuse and stringent Total Nitrogen standards within a greatly reduced overall footprint," Keaney explained.

The PuraMc system uses ultra-filtration membranes to remove solids and pathogens from the wastewater, without the need for chlorination or Uv while the biological process removes constituents such as BOD, nitrogen and phosphorus. The advanced treatment is provided by the extremely small pore-size of the membrane, smaller than any bacteria, creating the physical barrier that ensures the high water quality standard.

"We believe that the use of rainwater, greywater and wastewater reuse systems, will increase dramatically throughout the United States over the next several years, as drought restrictions expand, new water reuse regulations are introduced and a greater consumer environmental consciousness solidifies," Keaney asserted. "We want to be able to offer a solution that can reuse every drop of water by combining wastewater recycling with rainwater harvesting," he added.

Today's announcement reinforces the company's commitment to provide a range of environmentally advanced water & air pollution products that reduce energy and chemical demand, incorporate recycled materials and conserve water.

"It's time to forge a new contract with nature," said Keaney. "All of us have a responsibility to protect the environment we live in. The solutions being introduced today at the 2009 NAHB Green Building Conference reinforce and extend our commitment to offering sustainable approaches to wastewater pollution, water conservation, and clean air technologies for municipalities, communities, and homeowners."

New Thinking For A New Era
"Our aim is to provide environmentally responsible wastewater, water reuse and air pollution treatment solutions to our clients that are sustainable and can reduce carbon footprint while being cost effective, " Keaney concluded. "Bord na Móna are dedicated to developing state-of-the-art 21st Century treatment solutions that are fundamentally green by nature. The residential solutions being introduced at the 2009 Green Building Conference reflect this commitment."

Headquartered in Dublin Ireland, Bord na Móna is a multi-national $550-million full line provider of products and services in the environmental, energy, fuels, and horticulture markets. The company's state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible wastewater, water reuse and air pollution treatment solutions deliver significant environmental benefits for homeowners, communities, and municipalities.
