PARIS, France, May 28, 2009 -- Veolia Water has signed a contract with the public works authority of the city of Doha-Ashgal to run the Operations and Maintenance of two wastewater treatment plants which recycle and fully reuse for irrigation and agriculture.
This 7-year contract -- including an option for a further 3-year extension -- represents an estimated cumulated total turnover (without option) of 44 millions Euros (217MQAR).
The first plant, Doha South STP, have a treatment capacity of 112 000 m³/d of domestic effluents. Constructed in two phases, it has been equipped with an activated sludge plant (surface aerated) then with a Sequenced Batch Reactor (SBR).
The second one, "Industrial Area STP," treats 12 000 m³/d of domestic effluents. It has also been constructed in two phases and is equipped with a Sequenced Batch Reactor plant and, soon, with a sludge treatment facility (digesters/centrifuges).
During all the contract period based on performance, Veolia Water will call on all its managerial know how for maintaining asset condition at the facilities and ensuring TSE (Türk Standardlari Enstitüsü) quality standards to 95%. It will respond to breakdowns and emergencies, and will also manage the interfaces of a proposed upgrade to the Doha South STP.
