MELBOURNE, Australia, Aug. 18, 2006 -- Earth Tech was presented with the International Water Association's Project Innovation Award 2006 for its work on the Eastern Irrigation Scheme at the Australian Water Association's Victorian Annual Dinner in Melbourne last night. A joint project between Earth Tech and Melbourne Water, the Eastern Irrigation Scheme delivers 1320 million gallons (5,000 million liters) of much needed Class A recycled water to horticultural, recreational and residential customers in Melbourne.

"This award is further testimony to Earth Tech's reputation as Australia's private sector leader in water recycling," said Graeme Hill, Earth Tech Australia Managing Director. "We are especially honored to be recognized for the Eastern Irrigation Scheme, which is making a positive contribution to the local economy and helping preserve our environment."

Earth Tech's Eastern Irrigation Scheme set new quality and safety standards for water recycling technology in Australia and established national benchmarks for managing recycled water.

As part of the scheme, Earth Tech designed and built Australia's largest ultrafiltration recycled water treatment plant and a 200,000 feet (60 km) pipeline network. Earth Tech will own and operate the treatment plant and pipeline network, manage the scheme's 60 customers, and sell recycled water direct to end users for 25 years.

Earth Tech has invested $76 million (AU$100 million) in water recycling in Australia and owns and operates water recycling schemes that deliver over 10% of Australia's recycled water.*
