DAYTON, OH, Sept. 23, 2006 -- Static mixers from Chemineer are helping provide significant benefits for additive injection/chemical dosing applications for Three Valleys Water as part of a major project to improve the quality of water in and around Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire.

More than GBP 14 million [US$26.5 million] is being invested by Three Valleys Water to maximize the existing water supply, and make an additional 40 million liters of water available. At the Batchworth Water Treatment Works, where a cryptosporidium barrier membrane plant has been installed, a Chemineer WVM (Water Vortex Mixer) Mixer is being utilized to mix NaOCl (sodium hypochlorite) into filtered water for super chlorination purposes.

Installed by OTVB, the leading process contractor in the design and construction of water, wastewater and sludge treatment works, Chemineer's WVM is available in a range of DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate) -- approved coatings and materials to suit several applications.

With its test data independently validated, using both CFM (Computational Fluid Mixing) and LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) mixture quality measurement techniques by the world renowned BHR Group, Chemineer's WVM also offers greatly improved mixing efficiencies at very low flow rates (0.1-0.3 m/sec).

Three Valleys Water has been supplying water to the local community for more than 130 years and is committed to delivering a high quality water service to all its customers. It now provides over 800 million liters of water each day to three million customers, in parts of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, and the London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Enfield.
