EXTON, PA, Dec. 18, 2006 -- WPCS International Inc., a leader in design-build engineering services for specialty communication systems and wireless infrastructure, has announced that through its Clayborn Contracting Group (CCG) subsidiary, it has been awarded a contract by the city of Lincoln, CA, in the amount of $3.3 million. The project is a diversification in engineering services for CCG and is an extension of the work that CCG has been performing in wireless connectivity for water and wastewater treatment plants.
The city's goal is to build a permanent facility that will turn the liquid sludge from a wastewater treatment plant into environmentally safe Class A biosolids. The criteria established included low energy requirements, no chemicals, minimal operator interaction and flexibility in disposal. The solution is the implementation of a new active solar drying process using a greenhouse style chamber with a controlled drying environment that receives climatic conditions through sensors.
Jim Wright, Field Operations Manager for WPCS/CCG, commented, "Over the years our company has developed a high level of expertise in the deployment of various supervisory control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. It had begun with wireless data acquisition and has recently expanded to the point where CCG can now deploy sophisticated systems for the conversion of liquid sludge to environmentally safe Class A biosolids. Customers have gained confidence in our engineering capabilities for water and wastewater treatment plants and with the opportunities to deploy this type of system for other municipalities, CCG will continue to bid on similar projects in the future."
