Reynolds Inliner brings new trenchless technology to U.S. market
• Sabas Technologies provides ideal solution for large non-circular pipes.
ORLEANS, IN, Oct. 21, 2006 -- Reynolds Inliner, one of the nation's largest full-service wastewater system renewal companies, is joining with SABAS Ltd. of the United Kingdom in a strategic partnership that will bring the latest trenchless technology to the United States.
The new company, Sabas Technologies, will market its patented glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) product though a licensee network. Future plans call for a manufacturing facility in the United States.
"Bringing Sabas™ technology to the U.S. enables us to offer more solutions to our clients," said Denise McClanahan, Director of Engineering for Reynolds Inliner. "And for lining large-diameter, non-circular pipes, there's no better solution out there."
Traditionally, deteriorating large-diameter, non-circular pipes are rehabilitated with a smaller circular liner, which can greatly reduce the hydraulic capacity of the pipe. The Sabas™ GRP conforms to the exact shape of the host pipe, thereby maintaining greater flow and often increasing overall hydraulic capacity.
"We developed a process to line large-diameter sewers in a better and more cost effective way," said Lee Skinner, co-founder of SABAS Ltd. "We have had great success with the product in Europe and Asia and we're excited to bring it to the U.S."
How is Sabas™ technology different from current U.S. technology? Sabas™ technology:
-- Is composed of high strength, low deflection laminate (provides more uniform interlaminar and shear strength because all layers are formed at the same time)
-- Is molded to fit the exact shape of the host pipe thereby providing a viable solution for rehabilitation of irregular shaped sewers and culverts
-- Uses close-fit installation processes that can increase the hydraulic capacity of the sewer or culvert even with reductions in diameter
-- Has the ability to be installed in full segment or panel pieces, allowing for greater flexibility in areas difficult to access.
-- Can be installed in operational sewers, minimizing surface disruptions and costs.
This high strength, low deflection composite is particularly well-suited for structural renovation in both large diameter and irregular shaped sewers; thus, allowing trenchless technology to be applied on a broader spectrum.
The newly formed partnership is offering licensing agreements for Sabas Technologies. Companies interested in becoming a Sabas™ licensee should contact either Lee Skinner at 812.865.2901, [email protected] or Denise McClanahan at 812.865.3232, [email protected].
