• ITT Industries now ITT Corp. -- In 11th annual shareholder meeting, shareholders re-elect board members, approve name change -- TARRYTOWN, NY, May 12, 2006 -- ITT Industries Inc. chairman, president and CEO Steve Loranger told shareholders that the company is well-positioned to continue its long-term growth trend around its Fluid Technology and Defense businesses. Loranger delivered his remarks this morning at the 11th annual meeting of ITT Industries shareholders at Tappan Hill, Tarrytown, NY. In other business, shareholders approved the selection of Deloitte & Touche as the corporation's outside auditors and re-elected all members of ITT Industries' Board of Directors. Shareholders also approved a proposal to change the company's name to ITT Corp. The name change will take effect on July 1. The company's stock ticker symbol "ITT" will not change. The company feels that the diverse range of businesses and markets it now serves is best reflected by the name 'ITT Corporation.' The company was incorporated under the name 'ITT Industries' in 1995 to distinguish itself from other entities which at the time had similar names...

• Petrobras selects Siemens Water Technologies for P-53 produced water treatment system -- BERLIN, Germany, May 12, 2006 -- The Water Technologies division of Siemens's Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) Group was selected by Petrobras to provide a produced water treatment system to its P-53 Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, located off the coast of Brazil. The produced water treatment system will include Monosep dissolved gas flotation (DGF) technology, which combines a patented floatation and DGF pump system. The pump uses a dual-sided impeller that pulls both water and gas into the pump, ultimately creating micro fine bubbles that increase the rate of oil droplet flotation...

• MECO wins government contracting 'Small Business of the Year' award -- SUGAR LAND, TX, May 12, 2006 -- Mechanical Equipment Company Inc., (MECO) designer and manufacturer of the U.S. Army's latest Light Weight Water Purifier (LWP) units, announced today that it has been awarded the Excellence in Government Contracting Award as the Small Business of the Year. The Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), a Department of Defense supported agency, presented the award to MECO for the LWP program. Following Hurricane Katrina, which devastated MECO's fabrication facilities in New Orleans, the company quickly re-established production facilities for the LWP in Covington, LA, and Sugar Land, TX. • Fresenius Medical Care 5008 Therapy System supports new study that shows hemodiafiltration reduces mortality for patients with chronic kidney disease by 35% -- BAD HOMBURG, Germany, May 11, 2006 -- Fresenius Medical Care offers online-hemodiafiltration (HDF) as standard treatment as part of its new 5008 Therapy System for the first time. Until now, increased costs made online-HDF viable for only a few patients. With the 5008, operating costs have been significantly reduced through simpler user-interfaces, lower maintenance effort and as much as 30% reduction in electricity and water usage. Now, more dialysis patients can be provided with online-HDF. Fresenius Medical Care was presented with the German Business Innovation Award at the start of the year for the 5008 Therapy System. The mortality rate among patients with kidney disease is significantly lower with hemodiafiltration than with conventional hemodialysis. This is the result of a new study conducted by specialists at the University Hospital in Lapeyronie in Montpellier and led by French nephrology professor Bernard Canaud. The study showed kidney patients treated with high-efficiency hemodiafiltration therapy had a 35% better chance of survival than those receiving traditional hemodialysis. The three-year Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) from five European countries involved 2,165 patients who received treatment an average of three times per week...
