LONDON, UK. March 2, 2010 -- Pennwell Corporation, the publishing company behind Waterworld, Industrial Waterworld and Water & Wastewater International has extended the deadline for abstract submission for the forthcoming POWER-GEN Middle East event.
The water and power sectors now have until March 13 to submit an abstract for the event, considered the region's premier conference and exhibition for the power generation, transmission & distribution and water industries.
This year's event will be held at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre, Doha, 4-6 October 2010 and aims to tackle the strategic and technical issues facing the region.
By submitting abstracts, companies, consultancies and associations can share their knowledge, expertise and ideas with technical and strategic decision-makers and strategists.
This year's Water Track will address topics such as sector structure and regulation; strategic planning and management; desalination; water and wastewater treatment and collection and distribution networks.
Such issues are more topical than ever, with demand for electric power and water in Qatar increasing due to sharp population growth and rising industrial demands.
It has been estimated that demand for desalinated water in the Arab world is 6% per annum compared to the 3% global average. Furthermore, around 40% of desalinated water demand in the Middle East comes from the industrial and municipal sectors.
Nigel Blackaby, conference director for POWER-GEN Middle East, said: “The POWER-GEN Middle East conference is the regions premier platform for exchanging ideas and information with leading organisation's and strategists. Each year we receive a very high level of potential presentations for the conference, which has made this event so well renowned for its quality content and knowledge and information sharing opportunities.”
