Site safety success recognized by Yorkshire Water

Aug. 2, 2010

LEEDS, England, Aug. 2, 2010 -- The effectiveness of Black & Veatch's commitment to health and safety has been recognized with an award from Yorkshire Water.

Black & Veatch professional Kevin Carlisle has won the 'Individual Contribution' category of Yorkshire Water's Partner Awards. Carlisle was presented with his award at a ceremony hosted by Yorkshire Water at the Royal Armories in Leeds on 15 July.

The award commends Carlisle's dedication as a ganger (foreman of a work gang) to improving site safety and his approach to creating a culture of safety amongst his co-workers that have contributed to the success of construction projects on which he has worked.

Carlisle has worked on various schemes undertaken by Black & Veatch for Yorkshire Water including current works to increase stormwater capacity at Bransholme Lagoon in Hull. Carlisle's role in developing new procedures and safety rules stems from his experience working in excavations, cofferdams and confined spaces.

Yorkshire Water's Partner Awards exemplify the increasingly strong relationships Yorkshire Water has with its project partners, and they give special recognition to those who have made a significant contribution to the utility's achievements as a business.
