PORTLAND, ME, Jan. 29, 2010 -- Hydro International, a leading provider of environmentally sustainable products and innovative solutions that control and treat stormwater, wastewater and combined sewer overflows, today announced that its acclaimed Stormbloc™ infiltration and detention system and Reg-U-Flo® Vortex Valve flow control devices can be modeled using the latest version of HydroCAD Software Solutions LLC's HydroCAD® stormwater modeling software.
The inclusion of Stormbloc™ into HydroCAD-9.1 is the first below-ground, stormwater detention and infiltration system featured in a HydroCAD solution. The Reg-U-Flo® Vortex Valve, a self-activating device uses vortex principles to control and attenuate stormwater flow, has been featured in past HydroCAD versions. With both products now available in the same software package, designers can efficiently evaluate different system options and optimize their solutions.
The companies also announced they will host a free workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 9, to train engineers on getting the most out of HydroCAD-9.1's capabilities. The seminar, which will take place at Hilton Garden Inn, Waltham, MA, will feature demonstrations on how to utilize HydroCAD for sizing subsurface storage and flow control.
HydroCAD® is a computer-aided design tool used by civil engineers for modeling stormwater runoff. It is an integrated solution for the analysis, design and documentation of complete drainage systems using standard hydrograph techniques.
Introduced to the U.S. market this past summer, Stormbloc, with its stackable, block-type structure, facilitates soil infiltration in a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable manner. It has solved issues of excessive stormwater discharge in thousands of applications worldwide.
HydroCAD provides direct support for the Stormbloc, allowing the Hydro International system to be easily used within any HydroCAD model for stormwater storage, detention, or infiltration. Stormbloc can be modeled with HydroCAD-9.1, which provides an interactive chamber wizard for easy layout and modeling of underground storage systems.
