SINGAPORE, June 28, 2010 -- CH2M HILL, a global full service consulting, design, construction, and operations firm announces that it will share its technical expertise and projects during the Singapore International Water Week from June 28 to July 2, as the founding sponsor.
More than 12,000 water professionals and elected officials from around the globe will address challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water industry by exploring the theme of "Sustainable Cities: Clean and Affordable Water." The five flagship programs of the event are Water Leaders Summit, Water Convention, Water Expo, Business Forums and Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize.
At the conference, CH2M HILL will highlight its experience with water / wastewater conveyance, water and wastewater treatment, river cleanup, treated sewage recycle and reuse facilities, desalination, membrane technology and climate change adaptation.
Tom Searle, CH2M HILL's President of International Operations, will participate in the Water Leaders Summit and will be chairing the Middle East Business forum.
Jointly organized by PUB and CII (Confederation of Indian Industries), this year's India Business Forum is expected to be attended by more than 300 people and several ministers from the region. Neil Reynolds, CH2M HILL's Vice President and International Operations Director for Water Business, will be speaking at the CEO Roundtable Discussion at this India business forum. The theme of the discussion is to focus on the slew of conventional versus innovative strategies to catalyze water investments in India. Invited CEOs, senior financiers and water experts will contribute and share their views on the matrix of measures and viable strategies to overcome current (and perceivable) challenges, including setbacks to achieve sustainable, affordable and clean water in India.
CH2M HILL's senior leaders will also participate in the Ministerial Networking Tea sessions organized at this event.
"CH2M HILL is proud to be a founding sponsor of Singapore International Water Week. Over the past 40 years, Singapore has overcome its water challenges and has taken a progressive approach to sustainable water management by diversifying and identifying key sources of water," says CH2M HILL Water Business Group President Bob Bailey. "I applaud PUB for its foresight in taking a holistic approach to water management."
CH2M HILL has been working in Singapore for more than a decade. Nearly 500 employees provide services to the water, electronics, manufacturing, environmental and government sectors. The firm has a strong partnership with PUB, the national water agency of Singapore. CH2M HILL was the program manager and designer for the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, which won the 'Water Project of the Year' at the GWI Global Awards 2009, and the Changi Water Reclamation Plant, one of the world's largest water reclamation projects.
Recently, Changi NEWater Plant received the 'Water Reuse Project of the Year' at the GWI Global Awards 2010. CH2M HILL completed conceptual design and predesign for NEWater, and served as PUB's lead consultant during implementation. Singapore's fifth and largest NEWater plant, the Changi plant employs microfiltration, reverse osmosis and UV to polish treated effluent from the Changi water reclamation plant (CWRP) to produce 228,000m3/d of 'NEWater', which is supplied to industrial and commercial consumers. The plant is located on the rooftop of the CWRP. An official dedication ceremony for the facility was held on May 3 in Singapore. CH2M HILL also helped PUB developed the five NEWater plants and a Visitor Centre at Bedok in Singapore, an international landmark for educating the world about water reuse.
The firm also is PUB Singapore's partner in developing its Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) programme. Launched in April 2006, the nation-wide programme is transforming the water bodies in Singapore beyond their utilitarian functions, creating new community spaces as well as a higher quality of living in Singapore.
