STERLING, VA, Dec. 16, 2010 -- Sutron Corporation, a global leader in hydrological, meteorological, and oceanic monitoring products, systems, software and services, announced today that the USTDA (U.S. Trade and Development Agency) awarded a $585,745 grant to the Changjiang Water Resources Commission (CWRC) in China to fund a feasibility study and pilot project that evaluates the potential for employing technologies developed by Sutron to address China's water monitoring challenges in the Han River watershed.
In addition to the USTDA grant, CWRC and Sutron, the sole-source contractor, will contribute resources toward the study's completion. Development of this monitoring system would help ensure clean drinking water supplies to millions of people in Northern China. The agreement was signed during the twenty-first U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade.
The USTDA celebrates a decade of work in China by extending its program in the country for another ten years as well as awarding grants in support of opening the large China market to U.S. exports of goods and services as well as supporting China's efforts to reduce air and water pollution.
