DOHA, Qatar, May 12, 2010 -- Qatar's Public Works Authority (ASHGHAL) has awarded a contract worth QR691.2 million for advanced wastewater treatment and urban reuse to the Water Technology Business Unit of Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

A statement released by L&T said that the project will be delivered on a turnkey basis and is scheduled to be operational by 2012.

The contract includes the design, supply, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the Doha South Sewage Treatment Works, Phase II expansion.

Technology will be provided by ITT Corporation, USA and Construction by Galfar Al Misnad Engineering & Contracting W.L.L in Qatar. The rated plant capacity will be 92 million litres per day via a Sequence Batch Reactor (SBR) SBR and 187 million litres per day through ultrafiltration.
