CROYDON, Surrey, UK, March 8, 2007 -- Mott MacDonald has signed an agreement with ARCADIS to acquire its environmental consultant Euroconsult and management consultancy arm BMB in a move that strengthens Mott MacDonald's service offering in international development. The deal will be finalized later in March.
Euroconsult works primarily in developing countries and economies in transition covering three core areas -- land and water, rural development and ecology. BMB is a management consultancy specializing in institutional development and capacity building for the public, private and social sectors. The two companies, based in Arnhem in the Netherlands, have a combined turnover of EUR 33 million [US$43.33 million].
Bringing Euroconsult and BMB into Mott MacDonald will contribute towards the Group's strategic plan, explains Group chairman Mike Blackburn. "Our complementary expertise and experience means we can provide customers with an enhanced range of services in environmental and management consultancy projects, as well as multi-sectoral development projects aligned to the Millennium Development Goals."
"Joining Mott MacDonald will give Euroconsult greater scope for growth through access to the Group's global network and resources," says Euroconsult managing director Pieter van Stuijvenberg who will continue to lead the organization.
Mott MacDonald (www.mottmac.com) and Euroconsult (www.euroconsult.nl) are currently working together on several major environmental and international development projects, notably Pripyat Transboundary River Basin Management and the Environmental Collaboration for the Black Sea programme.
