AgION-treated filters provide enhanced protection against growth of microorganisms

RIVERSIDE, RI, & WAKEFIELD, MA, March 27, 2007 -- AgION Technologies Inc., a leading provider of silver-based antimicrobial solutions, today announced that it has formed a partnership with Riverside, RI-based Aquatronics Industries, a leading provider of industrial and commercial water delivery solutions, to incorporate AgION's natural, antimicrobial technology into its Point-of-Entry and Point-of-Use water purification systems. Aquatronics has provided creative and cost-effective solutions for pure water, wastewater and solid waste management problems for 20 years to a growing list of customers, including Avon, GE, Sylvania and Pratt & Whitney.

"There is an increasing demand from our customers to continually improve upon the quality of water they receive whether it's for a home, commercial or industrial application," said Howard Schacter, President of Aquatronics Industries. "Therefore, we are always looking for innovative technologies to enhance our filtration products. The AgION-treated filters turned out to be the perfect solution for us in that it is a natural, environmentally-friendly technology that will allow us to continue to provide the cleanest water systems across all applications."

By combining AgION's naturally-occurring, silver-based antimicrobial technology into Aquatronics' water purification systems, customers will receive enhanced antimicrobial protection, which will inhibit the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, algae, mold and fungus on the system parts, while ensuring the purest water possible. The antimicrobial technology will be incorporated into water filtration devices during the manufacturing process and will continuously release silver ions to prevent the growth of microorganisms on the filter system for the life of the product.

"We partnered with Aquatronics to develop a tailored solution to meet its specific requirements for enhancing its state-of-the-art water purification systems," said Ginger Merritt, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at AgION. "Aquatronics needed a safe yet effective solution to kill microorganisms and we were able to deliver based on the unique attributes of our technology."

AgION's antimicrobial technology is NSF and FDA-listed, EPA and EFSA-registered and approved under the European Biocidal Products Directive (BPD). It is approved for use in food processing/food service equipment, and deemed approved under NSF Schedule 42 for potable water/carbon block filter systems typical of the Aquatronics' standard components currently being installed throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.
