Mobile decanter leads Anglian Water to install new fixed system at Flag Fen
August 2, 2007, Derbyshire, UK -- Anglian Water's Flag Fen water treatment plant in Peterborough has successfully used the mobile decanter service from Centriquip to supplement its treatment facilities. Flag Fen has now replaced the mobile unit with a permanent CQ6000 decanter to serve its increased throughput.
The company originally installed two decanter centrifuges, however increased workload soon meant they would only provide the necessary level of clarification at relatively low feed rates. The mobile CQ6000 from Centriquip was installed two years ago to provide immediate back-up.
Centriquip provides the mobile decanter in its own trailer, complete with all support equipment, ready for immediate connection on site. Glyn Hollingworth from Centriquip said that Flag Fen had been a perfect application for the mobile technology. "Flag Fen had an urgent need for additional water treatment capacity," he said. "We were able to assess the situation and have the separation equipment on site within a very short time."
Mobile decanters are ideal during periods of rapidly increasing processing demand, to manage seasonal variations, for lagoon dewatering, to provide back-up during routine maintenance or, in an emergency, should a plant have an unexpected breakdown.
Many companies also use mobile rigs as a way of evaluating the equipment before making a capital purchase. In Flag Fen's case the use of the mobile decanter provided much needed back-up and also allowed Anglian Water to make an informed decision about the recent purchase of a fixed system.
