FORT WASHINGTON, PA, Jan. 31, 2007 -- Severn Trent Services announced yesterday that it has entered into a public-private partnership with the City of La Vergne, TN, to provide contract operation and management of the city's Water Utility System for a term of three years.
A special meeting of the La Vergne board of mayor and aldermen was conducted on Friday, Jan. 19 to discuss the partnership with Severn Trent Services for the operation of the La Vergne Water Treatment Plant. The public meeting was held at La Vergne City Hall, located at 5093 Murfreesboro Road, La Vergne, TN.
Severn Trent will be responsible for operations and management of the city's 9.8 million gallons-per-day (MGD) water treatment plant; managing capital expenses; minimizing or eliminating water quality excursions; providing technical assistance to address La Vergne's existing assets, future capacity and regulatory issues; and removing the city's day-to-day burden of operating the facility. The facility currently treats 4.0 to 5.0 MGD, serving the city's 27,000 residents. With over 30 years of experience in contract operations of municipal water and wastewater systems, Severn Trent Services currently services more than 430 projects in the United States, operating more than 450 water and wastewater facilities in 20 states.
