NORWALK, CT, Jan. 12, 2007 -- The city of Norwalk, CT, has selected Transpo Industries Inc. of New Rochelle, NY, to install its EnviroSafe™ Modular Storm Water Catch Basin Filtration System for a project to retrofit storm sewer inlets in Veteran's Park under a grant funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
EnviroSafe™ is designed to economically fit into existing stormwater drains to capture and filter the many pollutants common to stormwater runoff. These include trash, debris, sediments, oils, grease as well as soluble metals. This new filtering technology incorporates a potent antimicrobial treatment that inhibits bacteria, virus and mold growth.
For the Veteran's Park installation, Transpo has invited interested parties from local municipalities and other agencies in CT. The inlet filtering system installation will be at the far end of the park (along the waterfront) on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 10:00 am.
After this outdoor segment (about 10:45 am) everyone's invited over the bridge to the Maritime Aquarium http://www.maritimeaquarium.org/plan_directions_parking.html for a technical presentation by Transpo Product Manager Steve Orman and Jack Peter Sr., the developer of the product. Julie Belaga, former Northeast Director of the EPA and current board member of Save the Sound will speak on the need for local Stormwater filtration along our waterways. A question and answer session will follow over lunch at the Maritime Aquarium.
